Electricity and low-voltage systems for the prefabricated module (Prefab Cabin)

Project Goal

To develop a modular electrical system for a prefabricated house that can be assembled at the factory and quickly connected on-site using a plug-and-play principle.

The system must be optimized for mass production and quick installation.

1. General Concept

The electrical system should be divided into modules (zones).

Examples of zones:

1. Kitchen

2. Bathroom

3. Bedroom

4. Terrace

5. Sauna

6. Hot tub

7. Technical area

Each zone must have a separate cable harness that connects to the main electrical panel.

2. Main Electrical Panel

Provide for the placement of a central electrical panel, from which all systems are powered.

The panel must contain separate lines for:

• lighting

• outlets

• kitchen equipment

• sauna

• hot tub / jacuzzi

• fireplace

• ventilation (HRV / ERV)

• audio system

• outdoor lighting.

3. Voltage Strategy

The system should be divided into:

Low-voltage network

24V

for:

• LED lighting

• decorative lighting

• facade lighting

• control.

Standard network

120V (American standard)

for:

• outlets

• kitchen appliances

• coffee machine

• sauna

• pumps

• household appliances.

4. Prefabrication Logic

The electrical system should be designed for installation on the construction site.

Requirements:

pre-assembled cable harnesses

labeling of all wires

quick-disconnect connectors

minimum work on-site

Goal: complete electrical connection of the house on-site in a matter of hours.

5. Quick-disconnect Connectors

It is necessary to provide for the use of standard connectors.

Examples:

WAGO

Molex

waterproof connectors

quick disconnect terminals

The system should be as simple as possible for installation.

6. Lighting System

Provide for connections for:

Indoor Lighting

• main light

• hidden LED lighting with a dimmer.

• bathroom lighting

• kitchen lighting

• bedside light.

Outdoor Lighting

• facade lighting

• terrace lighting

• lighting under the house.

It is preferable to use low-voltage LED systems also at 24V.

7. Control

Provide for control for:

lighting zones

terrace

sauna

hot tub

fireplace

Control should be:

• prepared for smart system.

8. Audio System

Provide for cables for:

• speakers

• amplifier

• subwoofer.

The amplifier should be placed in a hidden technical cabinet or furniture module.

9. Power Supply for Technical Equipment

Provide for power supply for:

air exchanger (HRV / ERV)

electric sauna stove (Finnish 3-4kW) or infrared will be decided.

hot tub

pellet stove with automation

10. Documentation

The engineer must prepare:

1. electrical plan

2. cable harness diagram

3. specification of connectors

4. electrical panel diagram

5. installation instructions for prefabrication preferably in English.

11. Main Goal of the System

The electricity must be:

modular

convenient and quick to install

safe

suitable for mass production

This project will be used for mass production of prefabricated houses.

12. The project should be executed in a Revit model where all devices will already be placed in their locations.
