Optimize Kamatera server (strong RDP lags)
🔎 Task Description
I need a specialist who will configure and optimize an existing server in Kamatera (Windows) so that I can connect to it stably as a remote desktop.
Currently, I can connect, but the work is very slow: everything opens with a delay, there are freezes, and sometimes it hangs.
I need this remote desktop to work smoothly, like a normal computer.
💼 What Needs to Be Done
1. Performance Diagnosis:
- Check the current server configuration (CPU, RAM, disk, disk type).
- Determine whether the settings are incorrect or if there are simply not enough resources.
- Explain to me what exactly is causing the slowdown.
2. Windows Optimization on the Server:
- Disable unnecessary services that load the system.
- Configure autostart (to prevent junk from starting).
- Clean temporary files, check disk status, CPU, and RAM usage.
- Check for anything suspicious that consumes resources.
3. Remote Connection Optimization:
- Configure access to the server so that I do not experience lags in image/sound.
- Select the correct parameters for the remote desktop (Remote Desktop / new Windows application for connection), compression type, image quality, effects.
- Disable unnecessary visual features (transparency, animations, etc.) to increase speed.
4. Network and Security:
- Check network settings, latency, and bandwidth.
- Check the firewall, access, and users.
- Ensure proper security (do not leave the default admin with a simple password).
5. Instructions for Me:
- Provide a brief instruction on how to properly connect to the server (via RDP or the new Windows client for remote desktop).
- Login, password, IP / connection address.
- What to do if it starts lagging again.
