By default, the address is 0x29, to change the address, you need to set a logical unit on XSHUT and adjust the command to change the address and so on for each one.
We need a solution where we can send a logical 1 to rpi pico to switch interaction with the sensor, that is, we started the project:

checked if someone responds at address 0x29,
assigned a new address,
switched,
checked if someone responds at address 0x29,
assigned a new address
and so on until the sensors at 0x29 stop responding.
this logic with switching, after switching, each previous sensor must hold a logical 1

It is not clear why you need pico, if there is a better significantly cheaper solution on this core.
Even if you need PICO for other reasons) install STM32F0 or even G0 series, in a package
LQFP48 or LQFP64 (it is not clear yet what other peripherals you need) between lasers and PICO will be the right solution.
The price of these microcontrollers starts from 35 UAH. (I will send a link where you can buy in the comments) In Ukraine.
So using other microchips - for example, shift registers doesn't make sense.

по дефолту адресс 0х29, щоб змінити адресу потрібно на XSHUT виставити логічну одиницю і підправити команду на зміну адрессу і так до кожного.
Або через зсувні регістри,
або іноді взяти простіше мікроконтролер у корпусі 64.
(бо ціна низька)
Включаєте кожен XSHUT методом перебору та змінюєте всім адреси якщо потрібно (я так розумію кожному потрібна своя адреса).
Це триватиме мінімум часу.
Простішого рішення не буває.
А взагалі на основі CAN можна побудувати незалежну мережу лазерів, що живуть за своїми правилами))
