(smoke) Design brief
Technical assignment for the designer
Project: Mobile application for quitting smoking
Goal: Create an attractive and functional interface design that helps users effectively use the application to quit smoking, supporting their motivation and engagement.
Main screens and functionality
- Onboarding
- Description: A screen for welcoming and explaining the goals of the application. There should be a progress line for onboarding, with different scenarios based on the chosen level of determination.
- Elements:
- Selection of the level of determination to quit smoking (several options for difficulty).
- Visual elements to facilitate the choice, such as icons or gradients showing different levels of determination.
- Goal: An intuitive selection process that will be used to customize further recommendations and tasks. One screen needs to be created
- Main Page
- Description: The main page displaying key information.
- Elements:
- A timer counting the time since quitting smoking. Below the timer is the number of saved days.
- A bottom menu with buttons for navigation (Home, Tasks (like running for which you will earn points, etc.), Money Statistics (how much you saved and what you can buy), Diary or Notes (every time the user wants to smoke, they will leave their thoughts and desires here for further self-analysis, roughly like notes), Profile (there will be other pages like, the pages will go in a row, meaning the names of the pages in a row), ).
- The bottom part of the page includes settings and inspiring text (the name of the application or logo).
- Goal: A clean, minimalist design with a focus on the timer as the main motivational element.
- Chat
- Description: A chat for communication with a supportive bot (based on ChatGPT) or possibly with other users.
- Elements:
- An interface resembling a regular messenger.
- The ability to send text messages and receive automated responses.
- Goal: Create a cozy and friendly interface that encourages the user to engage in dialogue.
- Achievements
- Description: A screen for displaying the user's achievements.
- Elements:
- Cards with achievements (for example, "A week without cigarettes").
- A "Share on social media" button.
- Goal: A visually motivating screen with gamification elements.
- Description of saved money
- Description: A screen showing the user how much money they have saved by quitting smoking. It will also display data on how many cigarettes they could have smoked (or display in packs) and how many times they relapsed and when (possibly not needed in this place).
- Elements:
- Display of the total saved amount in a dynamic form. A graph could be tried, but I'm not sure if it fits the theme of the application to display graphs.
- Goal: A simple and clear interface helping the user see the material benefits of quitting smoking.
- Health Notifications !!! NOT FOR THE DESIGNER !!!
- Description: Notifications related to the user's health improvement.
- Elements:
- Progress notifications (for example, "5 days without cigarettes - cancer risk reduced by X%").
- Visualization in the form of graphs (the graphs should look simple and motivating).
- Goal: Inspiring notifications visually emphasizing health and progress.
- Daily Points & Tasks !!! POINTS SHOULD ALSO BE IN THE HEADER !!!
- Description: A points system for each day without cigarettes and for completing tasks.
- Elements:
- Display of the current number of points.
- A list of available tasks (for example, "Do exercises").
- Goal: Maintain engagement through a rewards system.
- Leaderboard
- Description: A table with user rankings.
- Elements:
- A list of users with points.
- Filters by friends or regions.
- Goal: Create a competitive spirit among users.
- Penalties THIS IS A POPUP
- Description: Penalties for relapse (smoking).
- Elements:
- Reduction of points and notification.
- For a high difficulty level - a popup asking to pay for their relapse (in cash).
- Goal: Psychological stimulation not to return to smoking.
- Personal Diary Notes
- Description: A diary for recording the user's thoughts and emotions.
- Elements:
- A simple text field for input.
- An optional feature to add emotion tags.
- Goal: Help users track emotional changes and maintain self-reflection.
General requirements
- Style: Modern, minimalist, motivating.
- Color palette: Moderately bright, calm tones associated with cleanliness, health, and tranquility.
- Typography: A simple and easily readable font.
- Animations: Smooth transitions between screens, notification animations, and achievements.
Inspiration and references
- Health tracking applications (for example, MyFitnessPal, Habitica).
- Quit Smoking --~ Smoke Free
- Smoke Free - Quit Smoking Now
Additional wishes
- Ensure that the design motivates but does not induce guilt.
- Accessibility: the design should be understandable and accessible to people with different levels of digital literacy.
Additional request
The application will be for iOS only - standard (if possible) interfaces should be used according to Apple's Human Interface Guidelines (HIG).
SF Symbols
Fonts and Typography — San Francisco (but it can also be something else, at the designer's discretion).
Images should also be minimalist; if you use AI to generate images, they need to be cleaned of watermarks.
Roundness should be everywhere - it should look modern overall.
!Any ideas for design and element placement are welcome!
So besides the main page - 7 pages + penalty popup. I don't know how much the popup will cost)
Please set a price
We are removing the notifications page, without it))
I roughly sketched below how I would like to see the tasks page
