Пробовал делать подобный проект на чистом WP, в итоге затраты очень большие. Пришли к решению LearnDash+PaidMemberships Pro. Плагины платные, но с огромным функционалом, отличной поддержкой. Например, платежные системы с ежемесячными платежами можно подключить "из коробки". В случае своей разработки - это отдельная непростая задача.
