Parable of the Quiet One Who Felt Too Early

At the beginning of times, when the soul just touched the world,
a Little Cancer was born.
He appeared not loudly, not brightly —
but as if from the depths of silence.
The waters of the world were not yet warm,
but he already had the desire to warm them.

He was born with a little house on his back — a shell,
hard on the outside but fragile inside.
The shell was his shield, his secret room,
where he could hide both fear, tears, and dreams.

— Why do you need this? — others asked.
— To not forget where I am home, — he whispered.
But in truth — he was afraid.

He was afraid of чужих голосов.
He was afraid of touches without feeling.
He was afraid that what he feels — is too much.
Too strange. Too quiet. Too unlike everyone else.

He tried to play like other children. But he got tired.
He tried to be cheerful. But he quickly became sad.
Because he heard everything.
What others did not say.
Offenses, unspoken.
Sadness hidden behind a smile.
Anxiety — in his mother’s gaze.

He was very small,
but he already knew that not all hugs are from love,
and not all words are the truth.

One day he met an old Snail.
She slowly crawled over a stone,
leaving behind a transparent trail,
and carried on her back an elegant spiral shell,
like a spiral of memory.

— Are you heavy? — asked Little Cancer.
— No, — she replied. — My home is not for hiding.
But to remember who I am.

— And what if I am scared?..

— Then you are very alive, — said the Snail.
— And if you have a place to return to — that’s already a lot.
But one day you will realize,
that you can carry your home within yourself without fear.

And then he first did not run into his shell.
He stayed.
Sat beside her.
And froze.

And in this silence, where there was no need to explain,
