Technical Animator (Unity) for project (2 months)
We are looking for an experienced animator / technical animator to work on a Unity project. The format is project-based employment for approximately 2 months, without long-term hiring.
The task is to create and integrate production-quality animations for characters and creatures, as well as to set up a clear and scalable animation system.
Requirements:
— 5+ years of experience in gamedev
— confident work with Unity Animator (Animator Controller, Blend Trees, Layers, Animation Events, State Machine)
— experience with Autodesk Maya (Blender is a plus)
— understanding of root motion vs in-place, gameplay vs cinematic animations
— experience in rigging, retargeting, and integrating animations with code (parameters, transitions)
Important:
We need a person who can not only create animations but also build the system — make technical decisions, maintain a balance between quality and deadlines, and work autonomously.
What needs to be done:
— assemble a complete gameplay animation set
— integrate it into Unity
— set up the Animator Controller
— implement combo attacks
— set up hit windows through animation events
— synchronize with VFX/SFX and combat logic
It would be a plus:
— experience with Final IK, Animation Rigging, Cinemachine, Timeline
— understanding of combat systems and game feel
— experience with UX animation
Before starting:
You need to familiarize yourself with the test task and provide an estimate of the cost of work for a period of ~2 months (in monetary terms).
Test task:
Unity project (version 6000.3.11f1) with two characters — player (scythe) and minotaur (axe).
The task is to create:
— for the player: a chain of 4 consecutive hits (combo)
— for the minotaur: animations for taking damage from these attacks
Not only the visual aspect but also integration, logic, and game feel will be evaluated.
