I am looking for a hardware specialist or systems engineer who can help me understand the unstable performance of my local server. I built it for work tasks, but it seems my amateur knowledge is not enough to get the most out of it. I would rather pay for an hour of an expert's work than spend another weekend buried in system logs.
A bit of context: I recently made significant upgrades to the "guts" of my main workstation so that it could adequately handle heavy virtualization and work with local databases. I switched to a configuration with memory modules of 32 GB DDR4-2666 MHz (PC4-21300 standard). On paper, these should be excellent "workhorses" for the multithreaded tasks I run 24/7. However, in reality, I have started noticing micro-stutters and strange memory bus saturation that do not match the specifications.
I recently read a discussion online, and a very accurate thought was expressed: "we often treat hardware as something secondary until it fails or becomes a bottleneck in the workflow." This remark is spot on for me. I spent a lot of time selecting components but completely neglected the issue of optimization—especially how the operating system (I have a combination of Windows Pro and several Linux virtual machines) interacts with memory timings and dual-channel mode.
My personal observation over years of work: 32 GB DDR4 is usually the "golden mean" for productivity, but if the frequency is 2666 MHz and the CAS latencies do not align with the memory controller of the processor, you are simply throwing performance away. Currently, my PC4-21300 modules show suspiciously high latency in high-bandwidth scenarios. I suspect the issue lies either in the power settings in the BIOS or in simple overheating inside the case.
What I need from you:
A quick audit of my current BIOS/UEFI settings (via screen sharing or a detailed checklist).
Analysis of the causes of high latency of the modules when switching between virtual machines.
Recommendations for stability testing software that goes deeper than standard MemTest86 and is suitable for server loads.

Do you think we have reached the point where 2666 MHz is becoming the "minimum" for professional multitasking, or does it still depend solely on how the software manages the cache?
