Case: Boosting Repeat Sales with Discount Tiers

Boost the percentage of repeat orders
Visualize the benefits for authorized users
Workflow:
Problem:
Visitors didn’t understand the value of registration — no clear discounts, bonuses, or incentives. Existing customers didn’t know they could receive higher discounts by moving to another group.
Approach:
We implemented a dynamic scale in the personal account that shows:
– the customer’s current group
– available discounts for each group
– what is required to move to the next group (total spend, number of orders, etc.)
Challenges faced by Nikitishyn:
OpenCart doesn't support such a scale by default
Logic for purchase tracking and group updates had to be implemented correctly
The interface had to remain simple and user-friendly
Solution:
A custom “My Discount” block was added to the personal account
The scale displays current group, future levels, and discount percentages
For unregistered users, a message explains that a personal discount will be granted after registration
Interface was styled consistently with the rest of the account area
Results:
After implementing the new discount scale:
– More users registered on the site
– More customers aimed to upgrade their group via extra purchases
– Average order value increased among authorized users
– Fewer discount-related support queries
The store gained an effective tool for motivating and retaining customers
