Setting up Jira for a product IT company
Problem:
The company lacked a transparent decomposition of strategic goals. The top management had no connection between annual OKRs and the daily tasks of teams in Jira, which led to desynchronization and missed release deadlines.
My solution and completed work:
1) Built an end-to-end hierarchy of tasks using the Structure plugin, Jira Software, and Jira Discovery (from strategic OKR to specific Task/Sub-task).
2) Set up automatic status changes and notifications upon reaching key project milestones. Configured automation rules at the request of several departments, added global and custom fields, tested the correctness of the implemented automations.
3) Established interaction between marketing, product, and development projects through automatic cross-project links and JQL filters.
4) Created custom dashboards and boards for top management that display the progress of strategy execution in real-time without manual report collection and are convenient for regular management.
5) Made video recordings for training updates for the entire team.
Result:
- All strategic goals and initiatives are linked to tasks in Jira.
- Time for preparing management reports has been reduced.
- Implemented a system for tracking blockers at the intersection of different departments.
Time spent on the project: 58 hours.
