Analysis of the translation of the animated film "Monsters, Inc." fragments
Text Translation
The work was carried out within the university course "Linguistics" and is dedicated to the analysis of the linguistic features of the animated film "Monsters, Inc." Initially, the vocabulary of the English original was studied — neologisms, word plays, medical terms reflecting the characters' individuality (for example, Bile, Phlegm, Marshmallow boy, Waternoose). Detailed comments are provided regarding their meanings, stylistic functions, and context.
In the second part of the work, how these expressions were translated in Ukrainian and Russian dubbing is examined. Approaches to adaptation are compared — in particular, the conveyance of humor, cultural connotations, and semantic nuances. The analysis is accompanied by examples in a table and comments on translation decisions.
