EnglishWe are used to thinking that the world is held up by people. By decisions, technologies, money, wars, and victories. But if we stop for just a minute and look around carefully, it becomes clear: the world is held up by those who do not speak.
By animals.
… They do not write history in textbooks, do not leave manifestos, and do not speak from podiums. However, every day they do what humanity would have long suffocated without — literally and morally.
In the forest, the wolf is not just a predator. It is balance. When wolves are destroyed, deer reproduce unchecked, eat young trees, forests weaken, and soils erode. The wolf does not know the word "ecology," but it is ecology in action.
The bee does not know that it is saving the planet. It simply flies from flower to flower, collecting pollen. But in doing so, it pollinates the plants that grow food. Without bees, half of the products would be left on the shelves of stores. A small creature with wings does more for humanity than thousands of loud speeches.
And somewhere in the city, on the cold asphalt, sits a homeless cat. People walk by because it is "just an animal." Yet it is these cats that catch rats that carry diseases. They are often the first to sense danger — fire, gas, earthquake. Animals perceive the world more subtly than we do because they do not drown out their instincts with the noise of their own thoughts.
But what impresses the most is not the usefulness of animals, but their ability to be… real.
A dog will not betray because it does not know how to justify betrayal. A horse will not submit to someone who behaves cruelly. A dolphin can save a person without even knowing who they are or what nation they belong to. Animals do not divide the world into "their own" and "others." They only divide it into safe and dangerous, alive and dead.
Humans, on the other hand, often do the opposite.
We build cities where animals lived, and then wonder why they come out to people. We cut down forests and are outraged by floods. We take their homes and then call them a threat.
Yet even after all this, animals continue to trust us.
A horse allows a person to sit on its back. A dog — to hold the leash. A cat — to touch its most vulnerable spot — the belly. This is not weakness. This is quiet courage.
This is especially felt during times of trouble. When war, fire, or disaster strikes, animals do not understand what is happening, but they stay close. They wait. They hide together with people. They return to where it was good, even if there are ruins now.
Animals do not know the word "hope," but they live by it.
Perhaps that is why it hurts us so much when they suffer. Because deep down we understand: they are better than us not in strength, not in intellect, but in the purity of their intentions.
And perhaps one day people will stop considering themselves the masters of nature. And become a part of it. Then we will learn to listen to those who speak without words.
Because as long as animals are around — the world still has a chance.
