ELF QUEST ICELAND — a children's quest book for a private group (8 children, ages 5–15). The book is being created for a family trip to Iceland in August 2026. Each child receives their own personalized copy.
Format: A5 (148×210 mm), ~52–56 pages, small print run (8–10 copies) at a printing house in Latvia.
Language: Russian.
Style: watercolor illustration, Icelandic nature, soft adventurous atmosphere. References will be provided.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE (FULL SCOPE)

The book consists of 7 chapters (one for each day of the trip). Each chapter includes three types of pages:
Fairy tale
• Text placement (~500 words)
• Area for illustration (size and shape determined by the designer)
• Decorative elements in the style of the book
Daily tasks
• Three blocks: observational task / photo mission / team task
• Space for an Instax Mini photo (86×54 mm) with cutouts
• Color coding by difficulty levels (three age groups)
Memory page
• Question + lined area for the answer
• Round area for a stamp (~28–30 mm)
Additionally: cover, endpaper, route map, introductory pages, final page.
The designer creates the layout → passes exact areas and sizes to the illustrator → the illustrator draws → the designer inserts illustrations and prepares the final PDF for printing.

TEST ASSIGNMENT (PAID)

Develop the design for Chapter 2 (attached).
Includes:
— fairy tale (~500 words) + area for illustration
— three tasks + space for Instax Mini (86×54 mm)
— question + lined area + area for stamp
Total 3-4 pages (or 1.5 spreads).
What needs to be submitted:
• PDF or JPEG of the final layout
• Source file
• Brief explanation: why such fonts, grid, solutions
Evaluation criteria:
• Readability and convenience for children
• Correspondence to the atmosphere (magic, nature, adventure — without cartoonishness)
• Thoughtfulness of areas for photos, notes, stamps
• Understanding of how the layout will work with the illustrator

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in designing children's books or illustrated publications (show examples)
• Proficiency in InDesign or Affinity Publisher
• Understanding of prepress preparation (CMYK, bleeds, ICC profiles)
• Willingness to coordinate with the illustrator during the process

Test assignment: 5-7 days after agreement.
Full project: final PDF — by June 25, 2026.

Working language: Russian.
Communication: Telegram / email.
