I worked on backend systems and API-driven architecture supporting multi-vendor operations, order management, and financial flows. The main challenge in platforms like this is handling complex relationships between buyers, suppliers, products, and transactions while maintaining performance at scale.
The system is designed around a multi-tenant marketplace model, where each brand manages its catalog and inventory, and retailers can browse, filter, and place bulk orders. On top of that, Faire introduces financial features such as net payment terms, commissions, and risk handling, which adds another layer of complexity beyond standard e-commerce.
Key areas of focus included product catalog structure, order lifecycle management, pricing logic, and integration with payment systems. The architecture supports high traffic, large inventories, and concurrent transactions, requiring efficient database design and scalable services.
