Mobile First for a clothing store is the right focus because in fashion e-commerce, the majority of traffic comes from mobile, and that's where the homepage often "breaks": banners take up the first screen, categories get lost, and no one scrolls down to the trust blocks.
Therefore, I would start the rethinking not with the visuals, but with a UX audit to understand where the user really wants to go from the homepage, and prioritize the blocks accordingly, and only then dress the structure in a premium minimalist style.
