504 — это Gateway Timeout
Проблема не в скрипте, а в сервере, на который шлете запросы.
PS. Не пишите $json вот так в лоб. Объявляйте его как массив и сериализуйте:

1) таки GET, а не POST
2) В заголовках есть'Accept:application/json; charset=utf-8' 3) Sslverify лишнее, запрос идет по http
