Need to migrate a live CI2 project to Laravel 12, preserving all logic without regressions. Here’s my approach: first, audit the CI2 structure — routing, models, helpers, sessions, to create a migration map. Then, I rewrite layer by layer: Eloquent instead of Active Record, middleware instead of CI filters, Blade instead of native views. Finally — coverage of critical scenarios with tests and comparison of behavior between old/new versions on real data. The key risk here is custom helpers and non-standard CI2 libraries that have no direct analog in Laravel: I will move them to a separate service layer, not trying to "stretch" them onto the framework.
