Ваша задача доработать уже ИМЕЮЩИЙСЯ скрипт по урезанию изображений чтобы он работал.

Номера 2,3,4,5 так же подтягивает в оригинале , большими изображениями, но отображает мелкими, что перегружает главную страницу,
нужно сделать так, что бы там, где эти изображения не нужны в полном формате, как эти мелкие сейчас, подгружало маленькими.
И подключить такую функцию ко всем блокам где подгружает этот аватар в уменьшенном виде. Их по всему сайту около 15 шт в разных местах.

Я предлагаю сделать работающий скрипт на урезку изображений. Далее мы уже сами будем делать маленькие копии в БД и подгружать их на нужные страницы.

Ну загружают, хорошо. Скрипт то зачем. Ну создаст он превьюхи при загрузке, нет пролем. А потом Вы будете ручками эти превьюхи в БД прописывать? Простите, но несколько нелогичный подход.
