The differentiation process is used in marketing to increase the competitiveness of the company’s goods on the market and consists in providing the product with special distinctive properties that are important to the target audience. The concept of differentiation was first proposed by Edward Chamberlin in 1933 in the theory of monopoly competition. The concept has been fully integrated into the theory of marketing and is today the most commonly used competitive strategy.
