Measurement system for furniture parts for production — from sensor to order.
Imagine a workshop or edge banding area: the operator places the part, coordinates come from the sensor, and the screen immediately shows — which position it is from the order, whether the geometry matches the specification, what has already been measured, and what has not. This is not "just another table in Excel," but a workplace for a real flow: two monitors, a large interface, minimal unnecessary clicks — so that a person in gloves and in the noise of the workshop does not get lost.
What is this system
… A desktop application (Windows) for automatic matching of actual part dimensions with the nomenclature and orders. Data about parts and orders is pulled from the cloud, measurements are recorded locally in a database, and progress on items and orders is visible in real time. It is convenient to provide the client with a single executable file with a configuration file alongside — without installing Python and "dancing" with the environment.
How it benefits production
Reduction of errors: less confusion about "is this a shelf or a side" — the system itself searches for matches based on dimensions with tolerances.
Speed: no need to manually search for a line in a huge specification.
Transparency: what has been measured and what has not — visible by order and items.
Repeatability: the same logic across all shifts, less dependence on the "experienced" person.
Current capabilities
Data reception via COM port (configurable string template, e.g., coordinates X/Y), stabilization of readings (thresholds, time of stable value) — to avoid recording measurements on a "shaky" part. Local SQLite: parts, orders, measurement history. Selection of parts by dimensions with tolerances, accounting for quantity, edges, notes. Integration with Google Sheets: synchronization of the catalog of parts and orders on a schedule — up-to-date specifications without manual file imports. Sensor/distance profiles, settings via ini — without recompiling the program.
Current integrations and "where to develop"
Also, development of a program for a microcontroller to control sensors according to the technical documentation from the sensor manufacturer.

No master notebooks, no guesses about "how much this cost us."
What the client receives:

How the production cycle works:
1) A technological map of the product is created — describing stages, operations, materials (from the catalog or a snapshot of the BOM), workers with roles and rates, equipment with hourly prices, overhead percentage. The tech card can be copied as a template.
2) A production order is created from the tech card — a snapshot that is edited for a specific client or batch. The system immediately shows material availability and reserves what is available.
3) During the operation, actuals are closed — the system writes off materials from stock at AVCO, records the time of workers and equipment, calculates the amount. At the end, a modal asks to select a warehouse — and the finished product is placed in stock with actual cost in hryvnias.
What pains this solves:
1) "I don't know the actual cost of the product" — the system calculates all four components based on actual data, not prices.
2) "We are consuming materials uncontrollably" — everything is written off through documents, linked to orders and operations. It is clear where it went.
3) "We started production — but there are no materials" — before launching, there is a check for availability and reservation. The reserve is separate from the available stock, there will be no conflict with sales.
4) "The master in a notebook, the accountant in Excel, the warehouse in the system" — everything in one place. The operation is closed — the warehouse already knows, finances too.
5) "The plan says one thing, the fact another — where is the difference?" — report "plan vs fact" for each order: what was planned and what was actually spent.
6) "How much does the worker's labor cost on this product?" — accounting for hours and rates, for each worker and operation.
7) "Each order — describe again what to make from what" — copying tech cards, templating, snapshots.
Why this is technically cool:
A two-layer model: the technological map (standard) and the production order (snapshot) live separately — edits in the order do not spoil the standard, and edits to the standard do not affect already launched orders. Integration with the warehouse is a single mechanism: reservation, write-off, and receipt — through a service layer with transactions. Overheads — configured percentage in the tech card, recalculated instantly. Support for multi-stage production with semi-finished products. All amounts are recalculated automatically — the person only presses business action buttons.
Who it is suitable for:
Manufacturing enterprises of any profile: electronics, metalworking, food, furniture, textiles, assembly shops. It works for a single workshop with a dozen products and for multi-stage production with thousands of SKUs.
Summary: production that calculates costs itself, reserves materials itself, keeps track of hours itself, and places finished products in the warehouse itself. Instead of "workshop chaos" — a complete digital picture: what, from what, how much it costs, and where it is now.

Six types of documents — all logically connected:

Each document is processed atomically:
- the movement journal is updated simultaneously,
- the balance and cost.
The removal of processing is also atomic, with a complete recalculation of AVCO. There can be no desynchronization between the "journal" and the "balance" — this is guaranteed by the built-in invariant check of the warehouse.
What pains this solves:
- "I don't know how much is actually in stock" — exact quantity by product pair plus warehouse plus variation, separately "reserved," separately "available for issuance."
- "I don't understand how much my warehouse costs" — the value of inventory in hryvnias is visible at all times, by warehouses and overall. Without an accountant and manual formulas.
- "We are selling almost at a loss" — when shipping or writing off, the actual cost at the time of movement is recorded. The margin is real, not imaginary.
- "The supplier raised the price, and we noticed it after a month" — on the product card, the manual price, AVCO, and the price of the last receipt are shown side by side. The "synchronize" button — and the price is updated.
- "We forget to order on time, production is stalled" — the planner automatically gathers all needs (reserves for agreements, projects, productions), subtracts the balance and already open orders, and shows exactly how much needs to be purchased. A PO is created in one click, grouped by suppliers.
- "We get confused about quantities during receipt" — in the form, you select the supplier, and the system offers its open orders. One click — the position table is filled. The QuantityGuard protection will not allow accepting more than ordered and returning more than received.
- "We do not understand the cost of the finished product" — the production order automatically calculates materials by AVCO, labor, workstation time, and overheads. The plan against the actual is visible for each batch.
- "Hundreds of documents — can't find anything" — a sidebar of filters, instant AJAX search without reloading, tags of active filters, state saving.
Why this is technically cool:
The method of cost calculation (AVCO, manual, FIFO) can be switched with one line in the config. All warehouse operations go through a single service layer and transactions — the system is repairable and secure. A two-layer model of statuses: separately the life cycle of the document, separately the business facts of receipt and payment — no fact is lost. In case of doubts, there is a command warehouse:rebuild-stock --with-costs, which will recalculate all balances and costs from the movement journal in a minute.
Who it is suitable for:
- Manufacturing companies,
- trade with multiple warehouses,
- distribution,
- resellers with their own finished goods warehouse.
It works equally well for a single warehouse with a hundred items and for a network of warehouses with thousands of SKUs.
In summary: a warehouse that counts itself, suggests what to order, calculates costs itself, and prevents mistakes.
