There is a ready STL model of a pineapple lamp with geometric relief and a removable top. I will send it to the performer. Attached are screenshots of the source and the desired relief.
All main dimensions, seating places, threads, fastenings, wall thicknesses, and connections must be preserved from the original model.
The task is not to create a model from scratch, but to perform a quality redesign of the appearance while maintaining compatibility with all existing parts.
Project Goal
To make the lamp visually more similar to a real pineapple while preserving:
- good printability on FDM printers;
- effective light diffusion;
- recognizable style of a decorative lamp;
- compatibility with the existing base and top.
What Needs to Be Changed
1. Main Body of the Pineapple
Currently
The surface consists of repeating diamond-shaped pyramids.
Because of this, the model looks too geometric and artificial.
Required
Redesign the body relief to match the structure of a real pineapple. The segments should be more natural, closer to a hexagonal structure.
Use a photo of a real fruit as a reference.
Features:
- segments should have a shape close to hexagons;
- rows should go diagonally like a real pineapple;
- create a characteristic indentation/star pattern in the center of each segment;
- segments should smoothly transition into each other;
- remove sharp pyramidal protrusions.
2. Depth of Relief
The relief should be noticeable even when the lamp is off.
Recommended depth:
- at least 2–3 mm;
- without overly thin elements.
3. Top Part (Leaves)
Currently
The top consists of a large number of long narrow leaves.
It looks overloaded.
Required
Make the top more natural.
Reduce the number of leaves by about 35–50%.
4. Seating Place for the Top
It is essential to preserve:
- the existing seating diameter;
- the method of fixation;
- the thread;
- the depth of seating.
The top must fit the existing body without changes.
What Cannot Be Changed
Do not change:
- the overall height of the body;
- the maximum diameter of the body;
- the wall thickness;
- the threaded connection;
- the fixing ring;
- the lower part for the lamp;
- the internal geometry of the body;
- the seating dimensions.
All dimensions are taken from the original STL model.
Printing Requirements
The model must be printed on an FDM printer without critical overhangs.
It is important to preserve:
- printing without supports for all elements as in the original model
- avoiding horizontal elements.
