Добрый день! Я ознакомилась с сайтом, там есть также другие проблемы. И в целом используется устаревший дизайн и неправильная структура, из-за чего сайт плохо индексируется в поисковых системах.
Показать как может выглядеть подобный сайт с более свежим дизайном, который будет продавать? Пишите в лс 🙂

Если речь идет об анализе от гугла (pagespeed) и формат webp и иже с ними - то крайне не советую этого делать - будете иметь проблемы с кроссбраузерностью.
Вполне достаточно будет оптимизировать текущие фото в пнг.

Не вводите, пожалуйста, никого в заблуждение. В наших силах корректно настроить отдачу контента поддерживаемым браузерам, разумеется Google Chrome поддерживает современные форматы изображений.

Фото загружены в формате который поддерживает прозрачность, если сделать в другом то нужно будет делать им фон как сейчас у вашего сайта, если фон сайта поменяется то нужно будет проделывать это снова с исходниками. Не вижу ничего плохого в .png картинках.

Большая проблема, по сути, не с фото самих товаров, а с фоновыми картинками вверху страниц, по 2,5 мБ и выше, которые тормозят загрузку основного контента.
