We are a studio that develops tabletop games in the genre of Dark Fantasy / Grimdark with a rating of 16+ (a grim world, blood/gore, deformity, sometimes partially nude characters — this is part of the setting). We are currently looking for an artist who can match the already established style and help us with a series of characters.
What Needs to Be Done at the Start (Test Task)
1 character for the card (vertical format 63×88 mm).
Important: the card has an interface, so the window for the character is significantly smaller than the full size of the card. The character must read perfectly in this “window” and not conflict with numbers/icons/text (we will provide a template and examples).
Work Process:
first, create a sketch (to approve the silhouette, pose, key details);
after approval — full final render in the required style.
We will provide reference cards and examples of characters to guide you.
Style and Tone
Semi-realistic Dark Fantasy / Grimdark (not cartoon, not anime, not “comic”).
16+ without fear of “gore”: blood/dirt/horror/deformity are acceptable.
Careful improvisation is encouraged, especially in the details of deformity, wear, dirt, realistic materials (armor, skin, metal, etc.).
The project will also include female characters, sometimes partially nude (within the dark-fantasy aesthetic).
Further Work
If the test character is in the exact style — a series of at least 20 characters is planned (and more — depending on the pace and stability of quality).
Additional Important Task (preferable)
In addition to the main semi-realistic art, it would be very helpful if you can create a second version of the image/card in a “sketch” style — more graphic, like a concept/sketch.
Examples of this “sketch style” will be provided separately (we will show exactly what we mean).
Technical and Work Requirements
Work for printing, so it is important to be able to prepare files correctly (colors/layers/export).
Communication is mandatory: in addition to chat/email, we need rare but regular calls to quickly align style and edits (the game already has an established art direction).

Your project is very close to my style — I work with dark, emotional aesthetics, semi-realism, and atmospheric characters. I am comfortable with dark fantasy / grimdark, corporeality, dramatic lighting, and "dirty" realistic texture.
I work through the process:
sketch → silhouette and pose approval → final render, so the format with the character window and map interface is clear to me — it is important that the character reads clearly and does not conflict with the UI.
