3D model for printing
1. Brief Description of the Task
A 3D model of a desk lamp is required, consisting of three separate printed parts for a Bambu Lab printer. Material: clear or milky-white PETG / PLA. Reference: Jelly L lamp by Tethys Design (tethys-design.com/en/collections/jelly). Exact copying is not required — an independent design in a similar style is needed.
2. Order Conditions
Type of Work | 3D modeling of 3 parts + preparation for FDM printing |
Client's Printer | Bambu Lab (Bambu Studio as slicer) |
Submission Format | STL of each part + source file (blend / f3d / 3dm) |
3. Exact Dimensions (according to the original Jelly L)
Total Height of the Lamp | 250 mm (25 cm) |
Shade Diameter (outer) | 160 mm (16 cm) |
Product Weight | ~400 g |
Socket | E14 (small base) |
4. Construction Scheme (3 parts)
5. Description of Each Part
Part 1 — Lower Tube (Base)
- Shape: vertical cylinder, long (~90-100 mm in height)
- Outer diameter: ~45-50 mm
- A 230V cable with an E14 socket runs inside
- At the top: threaded socket for screwing in the middle tube
- At the bottom: removable cap on a thread — for laying the cable and bringing it outside
- Texture of the outer surface: imitation of wood or rough PLA (as in the original)
Part 2 — Middle Tube (Trapezoid, E14 Socket)
- Shape: trapezoid in cross-section — wide at the top, narrow at the bottom
- Width of the top part: ~160 mm (equal to the diameter of the shade)
- Width of the bottom part: ~45-50 mm (fits into the socket of the lower tube)
- Height: ~60-70 mm
- At the bottom: threaded connection — screws into the upper socket of the lower tube
- At the top center: seat for 1 neodymium magnet (S-pole), Ø12-16 mm, depth ~4-5 mm
- Inside: channel for the wire and holder for the E14 socket
Part 3 — Shade ⬅ KEY PART
Printing Mode: VASES (Vase Mode / Spiralize Outer Contour in Bambu Studio)
The vase mode — the nozzle continuously rises in a spiral and prints one wall without seams, without filling, without top layers. Result: a thin translucent shell through which the light bulb shines beautifully. The model must be designed specifically for this mode.
Geometry and surface texture — see reference:
- Style: Jelly L lamp, Tethys Design — tethys-design.com/en/collections/jelly
- Exact repetition is not required, a similar surface character is needed
Technical requirements for the shade model:
- Shape: cylinder, diameter 160 mm, height ~150-160 mm
- One continuous outer shell — without internal cavities and islands
- The bottom ring is flat (base for printing), thickness 1-2 mm
- No overhangs greater than 45° — vase mode does not support supports
- Seat for 1 neodymium magnet (N-pole) at the top center, Ø12-16 mm
- Open bottom — the shade fits onto the trapezoid of the middle tube from top to bottom
6. Assembly Principle (without glue and tools)
- The lower tube is placed on the table. The cable is laid inside, and the cap is screwed on from the bottom.
- The middle tube is screwed into the threaded socket at the top of the lower tube.
- The shade is placed from top to bottom onto the trapezoid and fixed with a magnet (N+S) in the center. To remove — pull upwards.
7. 3D Printing Requirements
- Shade (part 3): check in Bambu Studio in Vase Mode — the model should slice without errors
- Parts 1 and 2: without supports or with minimal ones, overhangs no more than 45°
