Не знаю, какие причины или кто вам посоветовал, но нет абсолютно никакого смысла в обновлении движка. Фунционал весь практически тот же и обновление само по себе ничего вам не даст. Лучше потратьте бюджет и время на улучшение / доработку того, что у вас есть.
