Technical assignment for the design of a live butterfly exhibition
General concept
The main task of the project is to create a space with live butterflies that combines the atmosphere of a tropical garden and an elegant wedding venue. The visitor should feel as if they are in both a botanical garden and a beautifully decorated place for wedding ceremonies, photo sessions, and relaxation. The project should create the sensation of walking through a bright, airy garden filled with greenery, flowers, water, fabrics, and freely flying butterflies. The space should be as photogenic, cozy, and inviting as possible. The visual style is recommended to be based on a combination of: live plants; white and light shades; semi-transparent fabrics; tulle and organza; fabric drapes; decorative arches; floral compositions; hanging decorative elements; soft decorative lighting; water elements. Inspirations can include wedding gardens, greenhouses for ceremonies, botanical gardens, and decorative pavilions for photography. At the same time, the project should initially be developed as mobile and non-stationary. All solutions must allow for complete dismantling and relocation to another location. --- Installation restrictions Drilling, anchoring, and any other damage to the historical walls of the premises is prohibited. Only reversible installation methods are allowed: adhesive mounting without damaging the surface after dismantling; gluing mounting bases (e.g., wooden strips) to which decorative elements are subsequently attached; using Velcro, magnetic mounts, and other removable systems; using tension and frame structures. All solutions must allow for complete dismantling without damaging the premises. --- Mobility principle All main decorations and exhibition elements must be as mobile as possible. Preference is given to solutions that: are made separately from the premises; are delivered ready-made; are installed without attachment to walls; can be dismantled and transported to another site. Main decorative zones are recommended to be designed as standalone structures. --- Space decoration For decoration, it is recommended to use: decorative fabrics; tulle; organza; fabric panels; removable banners; artificial decorative grass; lightweight decorative structures; natural materials and textures. Textile elements must be removable and suitable for reuse after relocation. --- Entrance group It is necessary to create a bright and attractive entrance area. The following should be used: entrance stairs; space in front of the entrance; decorative design visible from the street and from common areas of the building. The visitor should feel the atmosphere of a tropical garden even before entering the main exhibition. --- Exhibition elements In addition to the area with live butterflies, it is recommended to provide additional exhibition objects: collections of dead butterflies in decorative frames; information stands about butterfly species; materials about the life cycle of butterflies; educational elements for visitors; standalone showcases and demonstration stands. Exhibition elements should organically fit into the overall style of the garden. --- Live butterfly area The main space must be safe for both visitors and butterflies. When designing, it is necessary to: minimize the number of gaps, crevices, and hidden cavities; avoid structures where butterflies can get stuck or hide; not use decorative elements with many hard-to-reach places; ensure ease of cleaning and maintenance. All materials must be safe for insects and resistant to increased humidity. --- Landscaping The project must actively use live plants. Preference is given to: large ficuses; tropical plants; plants that have proven effective in previous projects; large plants that create the effect of a real garden. Landscaping should serve both a decorative function and participate in creating a comfortable environment for butterflies. --- Insectarium A separate insectarium zone for breeding butterflies must be provided. This zone should include: butterfly pupae; breeding equipment; maintenance technical elements. The insectarium can be: a service room; a partially open demonstration area; an exhibition element allowing visitors to observe the emergence of butterflies. At the same time, convenient access for staff for daily maintenance must be ensured. --- Feeding area A separate place for feeding butterflies should be provided. This can be: a special decorative table; an island composition; a decorated area within the exhibition. It is desirable to make it visually appealing and accessible for visitor observation. The structure should allow for convenient daily replacement of feed materials and cleaning. --- Fountain and microclimate To maintain the necessary microclimate, it is recommended to provide a decorative fountain or another water object. The fountain should serve several functions: maintaining air humidity; creating a comfortable environment for butterflies; decorative space design; enhancing the atmosphere of a tropical garden. Convenient access for equipment maintenance and system cleaning must be ensured. --- Atmosphere of the space The main task of the project is to create the feeling of a real tropical garden combined with the aesthetics of a premium wedding venue. The visitor should feel that they are in a beautiful decorative garden filled with greenery, flowers, light fabrics, soft light, water, and freely flying butterflies. The space should be: bright; airy; romantic; green; cozy; photogenic. Special attention should be paid to creating several impressive photo zones that will look like elements of a wedding garden or decorative greenhouse. At the same time, the space must remain practical in operation, safe for butterflies, and fully suitable for dismantling and relocation to another location.
