В принципе имется возможность сделать эту работу, однако, главный вопрос в том, какой имменно слайдер Вам нузжен - именно тот, что на сайте-образце или подобный? На сайте-образце, как я понял, слайдер запрограмиирован и "зашит" в сложный JS-код, и вытаскивать его оттуда достаточно трудоемко.
Еще есть маленький вопрос по проворциям, но он, думаю прояснится.

Алгоритм ТЗ дает несколько вариантов решения без однозначного критерия, что нужно делать - обрезаьт или добавлять.
… Дело в том, что получить требуемую пропорцию можно и обрезкой, и добавлением, по направлению требуемой оси координат.
Поэтому, Вам надо определиться, что нужно делать - обрезать или добавлять. Или ввести более сложные критерии, добавить дополнительные условия.
