Task Description:
We are looking for a tester who can thoroughly check the website before launching it into production. The site is currently in the final stages of development, so it is necessary to go through all the main user scenarios, find errors, document them, and prepare a clear report for the programmer.
A superficial review of the site is not sufficient; comprehensive manual testing is required before launch.
What needs to be tested
1. Overall functionality of the site
correctness of page openings;
absence of critical errors;
absence of broken links and 404 pages where they should not be;
correctness of the display of blocks, buttons, forms, menus;
responsiveness on desktop / mobile / tablet;
functionality of the site in popular browsers: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
2. Main user scenarios
It is necessary to go through the user's journey from entering the site to placing an application or order:
main page;
categories / catalog;
product card;
selection of product parameters, if available;
adding a product to the cart;
changing the quantity of a product in the cart;
removing a product from the cart;
placing an order;
"buy in 1 click" form / quick order;
contact forms;
navigation through buttons and links;
search, filters, sorting, if available;
informational pages;
blog, if available.
3. Form validation
For all forms on the site, it is necessary to check:
mandatory fields;
validation of phone / email;
submission of an empty form;
submission of a form with incorrect data;
successful form submission;
display of error / successful submission messages;
whether applications are received in the correct place: CRM, email, admin panel, or another channel.
4. Cart and order placement verification
Particular attention should be paid to the cart and order placement:
product is correctly added to the cart;
price is calculated correctly;
selected product parameters are saved;
quantity of the product changes correctly;
the total amount is recalculated;
the order can be placed without errors;
after placing the order, a correct message is displayed;
order data is received in the admin panel / CRM / email;
no duplicate orders;
it is impossible to place an order with empty or incorrect data.
5. Mobile version
The site should also be checked from a mobile device:
menu;
buttons;
forms;
cart;
order placement;
clickability of elements;
whether there is any overlap of blocks;
whether it is convenient to use the site from a phone.
6. Visual errors
It is necessary to document:
7. Technical aspects
Basic checks should include:
loading speed of main pages;
presence of obvious errors in the browser console;
correctness of redirects;
functionality of links;
correct display of favicon;
correctness of meta titles and descriptions, if possible;
absence of test texts, placeholders, lorem ipsum;
absence of test phone numbers, emails, and unnecessary technical data.
What needs to be delivered
A clear report with identified errors is required as a result of the work.
Report format:
Link to the page where the error was found.
Error description — what exactly is not working.
Steps to reproduce — what needs to be done to see the error.
Expected result — how it should work.
Actual result — how it works now.
Screenshot or video, if the error is visual or difficult to describe in words.
Error priority:
Critical — prevents order placement / application / site functionality;
High — seriously affects the user;
Medium — the error is noticeable but does not block functionality;
Low — minor visual or textual error.
The report can be made in Google Sheets / Excel / Notion / any other convenient format. The main thing is that it should be clear to the programmer what needs to be fixed.
Re-check after corrections
It is also advisable to include a re-check of corrected errors after the programmer.
That is: first initial testing, then after corrections — a short retest to ensure that the errors are indeed fixed and no new critical issues have arisen.
We are looking for a person with experience in manual website testing, preferably e-commerce / online stores.
When responding to the project, please indicate:
Your experience in testing websites.
Have you tested online stores / sites with a cart.
In what format do you provide the report.
How much time is needed for complete testing.
Does the cost include re-checking after bug fixes.
Cost of work.
We need to start as soon as possible, as the site is being prepared for launch.
