Backend development

What needs to be done:

Develop the backend for a mobile application that will allow users to:

• Scan the restaurant menu QR code.

• Receive the text of the menu and images of the dishes.

• See information about calories, proteins, fats, and carbohydrates of the dishes.

• Get personalized recommendations.

Main tasks:

1. API for menu recognition (OCR)

• Accepts an image from the mobile application.

• Recognizes the menu text through an external OCR service (for example, Google Vision API or similar).

• Returns a list of dishes in JSON format.

2. API for searching dish images

• Searches for images by dish name through external APIs (for example, Google Images API or similar).

• Returns links to images.

3. API for calculating calories and nutrients

• Obtains data on calories and composition by dish or ingredient name (can use services like Edamam API or Nutritionix API).

• Returns detailed information about the nutritional value of the dishes.

4. API for personalized recommendations

• Receives user data (age, weight, height, diet).

• Based on this data, generates personalized recommendations (simple logic, without complex machine learning).

• Returns a list of recommended dishes.

5. API for processing QR codes

• Receives a QR code image from the mobile application.

• Scans the QR code and extracts the URL.

• Returns this URL to the application.

Technology requirements:

• Development language: PHP (Laravel or Symfony, at your choice).

• Database: MySQL or PostgreSQL (preferably MySQL).

• Server environment: regular server (for example, Hetzner or another simple hosting).

• Using Docker is preferred (not mandatory, but preferred).

• Simple RESTful API with JSON.

• API documentation in OpenAPI/Swagger format (preferred, not mandatory).

What is important:

• The API should be simple and reliable.

• Minimal number of external services and simple integration.

• Good documentation and clear code.
