I am a chemical engineer, and the text below is written on my behalf.
I know how to shoot videos, I have a good camera, good lighting, a directional microphone, and a room without echo. I also know how to work in a video editor and edit sound.
But I cannot speak on camera at all. I am not afraid of the camera, I look at it calmly and speak, but I cannot properly maintain the intonation in the text, so each sentence sounds separately from the others. Also, I do not understand at all how to move my hands, body, and face while talking.
I do not want to learn acting skills just for shooting one video, so I have a plan.
You, as the narrator, will speak this text from your own perspective, correctly maintaining the intonations in the sentences and preserving the intonational connection between them. It is also necessary for you to film yourself on camera so I can see your gestures.
When I receive such a video from you, I will break it into pieces of 15-20 seconds to memorize the text and your style of shooting for each piece, and during filming, I will recite the text from memory, imitating your pauses, intonation, and gestures with hands and face. In other words, I will try to dub your footage.
If during filming I do not speak the text with the correct intonation, I can later re-record the voice-over for my video and replace the incorrect sound segments with correct ones.
I will stitch the video from episodes of 15-20 seconds length by zooming in and changing the shooting angle.
You can shoot the video even on your phone, as long as you are clearly visible. The sound does not need to be cleaned of defects; I mainly need your intonation and pauses in your voice.
SO, I need a rough video shot by you, where you confidently, openly, and kindly say this text from my perspective. With facial expressions, gestures, and correct intonation. And, of course, you should speak calmly and confidently, as a 50-year-old chemical engineer would (that’s me).
Perhaps when you read the text, you will see that it is a bit awkward for voice-over. I know the text is conversational, but I usually speak and think this way, so if I smooth out and improve the text, I won’t be able to memorize it and speak naturally and emotionally. Also, this format of speech will be clearer for viewers who are chemists.
Therefore, it is necessary to speak the text as it is now.
P.S. Unfortunately, there is a bad practice on this freelance service. As soon as a new order appears in the feed, someone looks at it within half a minute and quickly makes an unthought-out offer based on the price to be the first. And then it continues… everyone else offers the same price, guided by the first one.
