The idea of a reading diary is currently very relevant (BookTok trends, etc.). For it to become a successful product (for you or for sale), the design must be not only beautiful but also convenient for writing and technically flawless.
I work with multi-page layouts in Adobe InDesign (Startfire Studio) and understand the difference between a "file for iPad" and a "file for print."
My work plan for your diary:
1. Master pages: I will develop a design system for the main sections (Book Review, Reading Tracker, Bookshelf). This will ensure that the entire diary is in a unified style.
2. Technical adaptation (2 versions):
o Print version: I will set up bleeds and correct margins, depending on how you will bind the diary (spiral, hardcover, or staple). This is critical to prevent the text from "escaping" into the spine.
o Digital version: I will create a lightweight PDF (RGB) that opens quickly and, if desired, add interactive links (table of contents -> page) for easy use on a tablet.
3. Aesthetics: I will implement the Bullet Journal structure — clean, with "air," so that the owner will want to fill it in.
Cost:
To provide an accurate estimate, I need to understand the number of unique types of pages (not the total thickness, but how many types of designs we are developing).
Usually, the development of a "turnkey" planner (Cover + ~10-15 unique spreads + layout of the entire block) costs from 4000-12000 UAH.
Question to start: what type of binding is planned (spiral or book)? This affects the layout grid.
