А ничего, что есть целые серверные FPGA-модули, как раз под крипту?
Видеокарты используют не потому что это так выгоднее, а потому что доступно и быстро.
Был уже тут на фрилансе года два назад проект для написание прошивок как раз под такие модули.
Если погуглите то решений на рынке масса, только зачастую ПО закрытое и идет только от производителя железа
А написать самому на серверный FPGA это очень интересный квест.
К слову два года назад так и не нашли исполнителя
