**Christmas – The Holiday of Peace**
On this Christmas holiday, we have yet another opportunity to reflect on the message of the Angels who accompanied the birth of the Savior on earth.
They brought three messages. The first: rejoice! The second: Christ, the Savior, was born into the world! The third: peace has come to earth. (Luke 2:10–11,14)
"And suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men'" (Luke 2:13–14).
What does this message of peace brought by the Angels say?
Firstly, the Angels did not speak of global peace or the arrival of a "golden age." They also did not speak of a truce for the Jews who were then under the oppression of the Roman Empire.
Most likely, the peace proclaimed by God's Angels referred to the inner state of the human heart, accessible to every follower of Jesus Christ.
Thus, first and foremost, with the birth of Jesus Christ, every person can have peace with God.
This was the main mission of God's Son, for which He took on human flesh. In the Epistle to the Romans, it is said: "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1). Christ became the bridge over the chasm that arose between God and man after the fall of Adam. With the coming of Christ, God became the Initiator of reconciliation with sinful humanity.
However, the Apostle Paul in this verse also speaks of justification, which became the reason for reconciliation. Justification is the key condition of the relationship between God and us. Without justification, it is impossible to have inner peace. The essence of justification is that God does not see us as sinners through the lens of our past transgressions. Justification means that God looks at us through the lens of the born, died, and resurrected Son. He does not see our past sins. "In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace" (Ephesians 1:7). And faith, not works, is the only condition for accepting this justification before God.
Secondly, the Angels brought the message that with the birth of Christ, every follower of His can have inner peace.
As a result of justification before God, you can find that inner peace that many people today are unsuccessfully seeking.
Jesus says: "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27).
