1) Compute the root AABB around all triangles
2) Find a plane cutting the box in the middle along the longest edge
3) Split triangles into left and right childs
4) Compute AABBs for the new child nodes. The boxes should be tight, but they can overlap
5) Repeat
• Until you reach maximum depth
• or you cannot split the triangles to two sides – i.e., one side is empty
• or there is a fewer triangles then required minimum
Collision Detection:
1) Check if two root AABB intersect
2) If the two boxes intersect, try their children
• If they do not intersect, you can discard their triangles
• If the children intersects repeat again the test for their children
3) When you reach leaves, you test actual triangles
4) Mark intersecting triangles
