Optimization of Google Ads performance
Online furniture store. There is currently a general strong decline in this segment, while there are competitors with similar products that have not declined as much, demonstrating consistently good search results. What we have:
- We work through Performance campaigns focused solely on product listings. 80% of the budget is concentrated on campaigns with prices lower than the market.
- Conversions have been checked. There are questions about feeds, but everything was working successfully two months ago.
- We are forced to reduce ROAS, otherwise the campaigns stop. The top campaign currently stands at 280%. Meanwhile, the main search queries have very weak results.
We are looking for a practitioner with experience who knows how to maximize advertising in a highly competitive environment (+ in a declining market). Including using unconventional methods. For example, one of our competitors optimizes costs by advertising through an Azerbaijani advertiser, likely saving on part of the VAT.
In the response, please describe your existing experience and potential optimization strategies.

Hello, Serhiy!
A familiar situation: PMax is going for cheap traffic and "eating" the budget where the margin is minimal. ROAS of 280% on top campaigns with weak search results is a classic symptom.
What I will do: Custom Labels for margin distribution, a separate Search to protect brand and target queries, and an audit of the feed for attributes. I will also talk about feeds.
Management: 10,000 UAH/month.
Please provide access to the cabinet and MC — in 2 days I will show exactly where the money is going.)

I will analyze Google Ads for a furniture online store at the Performance Max level, Merchant Center, feed, product groups, prices relative to the market, search results, ROAS, competitors, and the connection "product → query → margin → conversion".
You can already see what has declined in key categories: auction impression share, click-through rate of product listings, product price against competitors, feed quality, demand volume, or PMax's ability to generate conversions at the current ROAS?
Budget and deadlines will be discussed in private correspondence after reviewing Google Ads, Merchant Center, feed, analytics, priority categories, and the current campaign structure.

690 6 0 I have experience managing online stores in competitive niches, including furniture. From your description, I see that the issue is not with the conversions themselves, but with the volume of traffic and the share of impressions in search. I have worked with PMax, product feeds, and projects where I had to find growth points even during a market demand decline.
I would start with an analysis of the auction, competitors, campaign structure, and feeds to understand why, despite a decrease in ROAS, the ads still receive weak delivery. Often, the problem can be found in the account structure, signals for PMax, or the distribution of products among campaigns. I am ready to conduct an audit and propose specific steps for increasing sales.

3331 5 0 Sergey, hello
I understand the situation: furniture e-commerce, currently a market downturn, you are mainly on Performance Max under Shopping, ROAS has to be lowered, otherwise campaigns freeze, and at the same time, weak visibility on key queries. I am a practitioner in product marketing/PMAX and in such cases, I usually push for results not with just one switch, but through 3 blocks: feed - PMAX structure - demand/search.
Briefly, what I would do for optimization:
1) Feed and prioritization of the assortment: separate product groups by margin/availability/delivery speed, clean up titles/attributes, check reasons for decline (Merchant diagnostics, price competitiveness, disapprovals, data quality).
2) Rebuild PMax under control: separate "top" from "dragging down" SKUs, divide campaigns by segments (categories/brands/prices), limit junk traffic, strengthen high-intent queries, correctly set goals/value.
3) Restore search visibility: add Search for hot categories/brands, so as not to rely 100% on PMax and not lose demand that PMax does not cover/does not deliver.
Do you currently have correct purchase value (revenue) in GA4/Ads, and can sales/ROAS be broken down at least by categories (or product groups), to immediately understand which segments are holding up the advertising and which are dragging it down?

You will receive regular reporting on everything happening with the advertising, key metrics, etc.

2901 61 0 1 Hello! The situation you described in the furniture niche is a classic case of "Performance Max overheating syndrome," where the algorithm gets stuck on the cheapest products, causing search results for main queries to decline. As an official Google Partner, I regularly tackle such issues specifically for online stores. Here’s my vision of what needs to be done to stabilize the situation:
Optimization and splitting of feeds (Merchant Center): If 80% of the budget goes to products below market price, PMax simply "gets lazy" about showing the rest of the assortment. We need to review the Title/Description in the feed (direct the algorithm towards hot search queries) and possibly split products into different campaigns based on margin or categories using Custom Labels to regain control over the budget.
Restoring positions in Search: The fact that the top campaign has a ROAS of 280% and search results are declining means that PMax has shifted to easier product traffic. To protect and squeeze competitors for main queries, it’s worth activating separate Search campaigns with exact/phrase match and strict negative keywords to filter out junk.
Bypassing competitors' "gray" schemes (VAT/cost optimization): The trick of registering through other countries (e.g., Azerbaijan) is indeed used to save on tax burden (20% VAT). We can discuss the technical and legal risks/opportunities of such a step in detail, but in parallel, I suggest a legal technical upgrade — implementing enhanced conversions and offline conversions.
I have extensive practical experience in product advertising (Google Shopping / PMax), setting up offline conversions, and deep analytics. I work systematically, analyzing queries daily.
…
Let’s discuss the details in the chat; I’m ready to conduct a preliminary audit of your Merchant Center and campaigns.

1218 5 0 Good afternoon, I work with Google/Meta ads advertising, including eCom (Merchant).
In your specific situation, I see several points:
ROAS of 280% with weak search visibility is a classic symptom that Performance Max is cutting reach in search in favor of shopping and display. The campaign is formally "working," but not where it needs to be. This can be addressed with audience signals, exporting the customer list from the website (integration with Pmax), exclusions, and separating campaigns by inventory type, rather than reducing ROAS.
Questions about feeds are the first thing to look at when visibility drops. Even minor discrepancies in attributes (price, availability, titles) cut impressions more than budget; when looking at feeds as a whole, segmentation needs to be considered (if you have a low average order value and high in one feed, this also affects the algorithm's performance at the target ROAS). This can be corrected through segmentation, separating best-selling products, and creating campaigns based on different average order values.
80% of the budget on "cheaper than the market" is logical, but in a downturn, this is a trap: competitors with normal margins can afford more aggressive bids specifically on these queries + as I mentioned, not on all products, but on certain ones that are best-selling and have a high average order value, which is why competitors can achieve significant profits, as they can set higher ROAS due to the high average order value in the campaign, and the algorithm does not break down.

333 4 0 Hello!
I have practical experience working with Google Ads for over 3 years, including with e-commerce projects in highly competitive niches. I regularly work with Performance Max, Google Merchant Center, product feeds, and ROAS optimization.
From the description, I see several areas that need to be checked first:
• Analysis of the Performance Max structure and budget allocation between campaigns. Often the problem lies in the competition between campaigns or insufficient signal volume for learning.
• Checking the quality of the product feed and product attributes. Even if everything worked a few months ago, changes in the feed or Merchant Center requirements can significantly affect impressions.
• Analyzing search results and search impression share to determine why traffic is being lost: due to budget constraints, ad ranking, or other factors.
… • Checking price competitiveness, margin, and effectiveness of individual product categories with possible budget reallocation.
• Analyzing audience signals, exclusions, brand queries, and the feasibility of splitting campaigns.
• Checking bidding strategy. In some projects, temporarily switching to another strategy or changing the target ROAS can help regain impression volume and then return to a higher profitability level.
Regarding working through a foreign advertiser to save on taxes, I prefer to use only official and safe optimization methods that do not create risks of account suspension or violation of Google’s rules.
I am ready to conduct a detailed audit, explain the reasons for the current drop, and propose a specific action plan to restore volumes and increase advertising effectiveness.
