We need a specialist or a team to develop a complete smart home ecosystem.
Project idea:
to create a central device/hub that can connect various smart home devices: lighting, sockets, climate control, heating, sensors, cameras, locks, appliances, security scenarios, and other devices from different manufacturers.
We need not just a beautiful interface, but a full-fledged "smart home" system where all devices are integrated into one understandable ecosystem.
What should be in the system:
1. Central hub / main device
- a device through which the entire home is managed;
- connection and setup of new devices;
- compatibility with devices from different manufacturers;
- local control, so basic functions work even without the internet;
- the possibility of further connecting to the cloud and a mobile application.
2. Device connectivity
- adding different types of devices: lamps, sockets, thermostats, sensors, cameras, locks, heating, air conditioners, appliances;
- grouping devices by rooms;
- displaying the status of each device;
- controlling each device individually;
- the ability to create connections between devices.
3. Home management
- turning lights and sockets on/off;
- managing temperature and climate;
- managing heating;
- managing scenarios;
- monitoring energy consumption;
- notifications about important events;
- manual and automatic control.
4. Scenarios and automation
- "if an event occurs, perform an action";
- for example: if motion is detected at night, turn on the light;
- if the temperature drops, turn on the heating;
- if no one is home, turn off some devices;
- if a door/window is open, send a notification;
- schedules based on time, days of the week, and home states.
5. Interface
- a beautiful modern dashboard for managing the home;
- a convenient room screen;
- control of individual devices;
- displaying temperature, light, energy, security;
- an understandable interface for the average user;
- preferably support for tablet/wall screen;
- a mobile application in the future.
6. Energy and statistics
- collecting data on electricity consumption;
- statistics on devices and rooms;
- graphs for day, week, month;
- approximate cost calculation;
- recommendations for energy savings.
7. Security
- motion sensors, door/window opening sensors, smoke, leaks;
- cameras and notifications;
- "home", "away", "night" modes;
- event log;
- access protection for home management.
8. Scalability
- the system should be built so that in the future new devices, brands, protocols, and functions can be added;
- it is important that the project is not a one-time prototype but can evolve as a product.
Who we are looking for:
a specialist or team who understands smart home not just as an interface, but as a whole system: device, connection of various gadgets, management, automation, security, energy, mobile/wall control.
It is important for us that the contractor can:
- propose the right architecture;
- explain which central device is better to use or develop;
- think through the connection of devices from different manufacturers;
- create a convenient management system;
- lay the foundation for a future product;
- take the project from idea to working solution.
In your response, please write:
1. Have you had experience with smart homes or IoT?
2. What devices and protocols have you already connected?
3. How would you propose to build such a system?
4. What is needed for the first working prototype?
5. Approximate stages, timelines, and budget.
